Volunteer: ProcessionSaturday, August 15th is the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven, and the Shrine of Our Lady of Champion is having a procession following the 11:30 am Mass.
The procession will be following the rosary path along the back, and we need flower girls, banner bearers, and statue carriers. Here is what you need to know: Girls who are in high school are welcome to be statue carriers, middle school girls can carry the banner, and all younger girls will be dropping flower petals for Our Lady. We will meet in the pilgrimage office, which is across from the restrooms in Mother Of Mercy Hall: statue bearers need to be there by 10:45, and everyone else needs to be there by 11:00. Families will be sitting with their girls, banner bearers, flower girls, and their families will be sitting halfway down MOM Hall on the left, and the statue bearers and their families will sit at the very front on the right in front of the statue. Girls are asked to wear a white dress that is knee length or longer (The Shrine has white dresses that your daughter may borrow if she needs one, they can be picked up in advance or the day of.) and white or silver shoes, preferably with no heel. It is suggested to bring a shawl if it is supposed to be cold; white, silver, gold, or blue are all acceptable. Statue bearer's hair should be styled back and away from their shoulders. There will also be flower wreaths for the statue bearers to wear, so please refrain from putting all kinds of accessories in your hair. The procession will be after the Mass, so if you cannot make it to the Mass at 11:30, you are still welcome to help with the procession. Since the procession is likely to begin around 12:30, girls who are coming late are asked to meet at the pilgrimage office at 12:15. For those who are participating in the Diocesan Youth Choir, you may also participate in the procession, I simply ask that you let me know of the fact so that we can work out when and where the girls need to be. There will also be a cookout for everyone after the procession that you are welcome to join us for. Please pass the message on to whomever you think may be interested; the more girls we have, the better Program: Assumption of Blessed Mother August 15th Saturday, August 15th is the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven, and the Shrine of Our Lady of Champion is having a procession following the 11:30 am Mass.
